3DM Export for SketchUp Publisher's Description
3DM Export for SketchUp is a Rhinoceros 3DM file export plug-in for Google SketchUp®. This plug-in gives SketchUp the ability to export objects in SketchUp to 3d polygon meshes in a 3DM file.
3DM Export for SketchUp tessellates objects in a SketchUp document into a set of triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to a 3DM file as mesh objects. The 3DM file can then be imported into a variety of CAD applications.
3DM Export for SketchUp is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into SketchUp and adds a new submenu called "3DM Export for SketchUp" to the SketchUp Plugins menu.
The '3DM Export for SketchUp' menu consists of the following commands:
# Export - Exports a Rhinoceros/OpenNURBS 3DM file
# Help - Display the 3DM Export for SketchUp help file
# Register - Register your copy of 3DM Export for SketchUp
# About - Display the 3DM Export for SketchUp About box
3DM Export for SketchUp comes with detailed documentation for each command as well as a tutorial to get you started in the shortest possible time.
The 3DM File Format
The 3DM (3D Model) file format is the native file format of Rhinoceros, the NURBS modeling software from Robert McNeel & Associates. The OpenNURBS Initiative was founded by Robert McNeel & Associates in January 2000, with the sole purpose of providing CAD, CAM, CAE and computer graphics software users reliable methods for transferring 3D geometry between applications via the 3DM file format. TerrainCAD, our terrain generation, editing and modeling software, also uses the 3DM file format as its native file format.
